With “Emily,” Frances O’Connor has crafted a first film that feels like the work of an accomplished master.
The Best Movie of the Year Emily 2022 is the best movie of the year in my opinion.
I have no idea how accurate this movie is compared to the real lives of the Bronte sisters – Emily, Charlotte, and Anne.
Emily imagines the transformative, exhilarating, and uplifting journey to the womanhood of a rebel and a misfit, one of the world’s most famous, enigmatic, and provocative writers who died too soon at the age of 30
Mackey convinces us that there are so many more colors to Emily than the ones she is allowed to display. Her thoughtful, understated performance matches a film that teases out the flesh-and-blood emotions from the stuff of gothic romance.
I have no desire to watch or read their novels Jane Eyre (Charlotte Brontë), Wuthering Heights (Emily Brontë), and The Tenant of Widlfell Hall (Anne Brontë), which are considered to be masterpieces.
But I find this movie greatly entertaining. It has good character development, a good plot, and a good setting. It has good writing and directing. Just all good.I think the classical music soundtrack is also fantastic.
